Understand the recommendation

Ask why the proposed approach fits your sleep-study findings and health history. Positive airway pressure, oral appliances and other options have different roles. The best choice is not determined solely by which device appears simplest.

Arrange support early

Find out how to obtain help with fitting, cleaning and comfort. Describe specific problems, such as a leak or jaw discomfort, rather than stopping treatment silently. Practical difficulties deserve a response.

Include relevant self-care

Your team may discuss weight management, activity, alcohol, smoking or position when relevant. These measures can support care, but they should not be treated as universal replacements for prescribed therapy.

Agree on review

Ask when symptoms and treatment effectiveness will be reassessed. Report continuing sleepiness or breathing concerns. If you would prefer a different option, discuss it before switching. A reduction in snoring is useful information but does not, by itself, confirm control of sleep apnea.
